Going back to old posts I am seeing attachments that are no longer there, what happened?

I think this was discussed a year or two ago. The moderators periodically delete attachments on old threads to save storage space. They posted a warning before doing so, and explained that it is not the intent of these forums to be an archive of all possible info or musings.
