Can MS Run a Diesel Engine
Hi James, I have had several enquiries now asking if MS can run Diesel engines, I am thinking if they have a Crank Trigger wheel and sensor, TPS,Water and Air sensors, and a MAP sensor, and a common fuel rail with Electronic Injectors, then it should, or am I forgetting something, any help appreciated, Regards DM

Not on MS1, though MS2 and up should possible, you need to have fully timed sequential injection.
You would also need a high voltage injector driver to run the piezo injectors.
With the MS running Alpha-N, it should be possible to run a diesel engine off TPS, though I would imagine tuning would be quite tricky due to the lack of (proper) injection timing maps.

Re: Can MS Run a Diesel Engine
Actually now that I think about it, it might be possible to pull it off with an MS1 using spark outputs to drive the injectors, but it would have to be full sequential ignition.
However, injection duration is still an issue (MS1 doesn't have a spark dwell table), but would be easier with MS2 and 3 (they have full spark dwell table, right?)
So yeah, I think MS1 could possibly run a diesel, wouldn't be pretty though.

Simple answer is no.
If you guys get it running, please do post up how you did it.
James

Re: Can MS Run a Diesel Engine
I think it should be possible without too much ado to run a simple VE pump diesel on a Microsquirt, those are controlled by three solenoids, fuel, timing and boost.
A CR diesel should be possible with the MS3 if the injector timing is accurate enough. By using AN fueling, the injection timing map and a set of high voltage injector drivers it should at least be theoretically possible. There are probably a few more solenoids to control for proper operation (like HP pump pressure).
