Will the EDIS pickup work with a Stainless crank trigger or does the trigger have to be made out of a ferrous metal?
Nope , Gotta be magnetic/ferrous metal , SS is non-magnetic .

There are many grades of stainless steel. Some (generally the softer ones) are non-magnetic but many are - depending on the alloy. Check the stock you want to use with a magnet. The better it sticks, the better it will work, however the distance the sensor is set to may be reduced and the resulting VR impulse may be less. The non-magnetic types tend to have better corrosion resistance. Remember, stainless means it stains LESS, not that it is rust proof in all it's variations. An alternative would be to use iron or steel and plate it after machining. I don't personally know of anyone using stainless in a trigger wheel for reference.
