Edis6 giving 0 degrees with "correct" install

Post by 3VZ-FE »

Hi. Tried searching on this but didn't find anything. I'm using edis6 on a toyota v6. I set up the vr-sensor as the instructions told me, like in the fig. under. I was supposed to get spark at about 10 degrees btdc, but got spark at tdc.. (0 degrees) Thats pretty far off, isnt it? I'm 1000% sure the setup was at tdc with the tooth 60 degrees ahead of the vr sensor.. Since i heated the triggerwheel and shrinked it on to my pulley, i had to build a new foundation for the vr with the tooth 70 degrees ahead at tdc, now i have spark at 10 btdc. Ofcourse, no SAW connected at this point of testing. Has anyone else had trouble with this? Could there be a mistake somewhere in my installation i've been missing?

You did place the centre of the gap (i.e. the missing tooth) 60deg ahead, not a real tooth?

The missing one, yes. :D Followed the instructions very carefully, just like the drawing, and went over the install and scraches my head a lot. :D Very odd if i'm the only one who've had this "problem".. Not to big deal really, just some extra work fabricating a new holder for the sensor. I was just wondering if i had missed something, or my module is defective...

Mine was off by about 4 degrees. In limp mode the timing is 6 or 7, when it shouldbe ten. You can trim the timing to compensate in the spark settings. The only issue is that it will limit your max advance by 10 degrees.
