What ignition method to use?

Post by turbosundance »

I'mlooking into fitting my '89 Dodge spirit with MS. The car has a 6G72 Mitsu 3.0 SOHC. I'm not sure how to do the ignition. I've considered EDIS6 but I dont want to have to get into the hassal of installing a pickup on the crank. The existing setup on the car is an optical pickup distributor with two outputs. It has a tach signal output and a reference output. I'd like to use these output to run wasted spark somehow. I'd prefer not to use the existing disributor to distribute the spark from a single coil. Anyone have any ideas? This is an even fire V6. There is a Mitsu variant of this motor with a crank sensor. Should I investigate that further?

if i remember correcty only the 3000GT VR4-TT came with EDIS. i am swapping in the 24v from a 2000 eclipse GT, and will be using the dizzy (for now at least, EDIS is a possibility later) i think that you can tune a little bit of the spark advance from MS, and other than that, its dizzy positioning.
