how safe is the default spark table as im running it and the car seems fine but just wanted some feedback on the default map and whats the best way of getting a good spark map
2.0 8v turbo 10.7 standing 1/4@136mph on m/s fastest mk2 astra 8vt in europe !!!
2.0 turbo tigra 10.1 standing 1/4 @ 145 mph with problems :( havent turned the boost up yet

The default MS1/Extra spark map should be pretty safe in NA applications for sure. But as with all parameters, it is up to the user to be sure.
Have you read the "setting up an initial spark table" Sticky ? This gives some good rule of thumb guides.

yes m8 i did :shock:

just carnt get my head around the generator on there

the car seems to run ok its a new engine i had it on its original engine managment to run it in for 200 miles then i added the knocksense unit and ajustedit on the standard managment so i would give me a good starting place then put back on the m/s and it runns ok but at the end of the week the turbos going on and i just wanted to make sure im right with everthing

spec of engine

2.0 8v vauxhall engine

8.0:1 c/r
forged pistions
steel forged rods
gas flowed head
ported and polished head

t34 turbo with external wastegate to go on at the weekend

im running default map and ive never herd any det as of yet even if the knock light comes on i still dont here it :o

My map is at the top. 2.0L 4 banger with a turbo in similar size to a t3/t4. I've tuned the spark map up to 15psi boost on 93 octane pump gas. Although, I have about 9:1 compression so you can probably get away with a little more spark advance. It will be a good place to start from though.
