A Little Advice please.......

ok this is my existing ECU, its a C20XE Vaux Engine with dis pack
now i got my MS with the Extra code, and i am connecting direct to the existing harnes with an Bosch 55pin socket wired up to the 25pin D Harness from the MS. now im not sure about the Spark control. looking at the pin outs above do i use pins 20 / 21 for spark or am i in the totally wrong direction...........

ok i have been hunting around all day and come up with this
0 227 100 200 this is the code from the bosch ignition module
According to the data i found it states that this unit has
2 Output Stages 7 pins and its ECU controlled
1 Coil Negative (Channel 1)
2 Switching input (channel 1)
3 Not Used
4 Power Transistor Ground
5 Not used
6 Coil Negative (Channel 2)
7 Switching Input (channel 2)
so how would i connect the MS to this.
at a guess i would say i need 2 VB921's and from those to pin 2 and 7 is this correct

assuming you're output is inverted (switching to ground) then yes, 2 & 7 are the ones to connect to spark A & B outputs. See the FAQ pages for where to connect A & B spark outputs to on the MS main board.
you wont need the IGBTs (VB921s) as they do what the bosch igniter does.
One othe thing you should confirm, does the bosch unit do dwell control or is this something you'll have to manage with the ECU?
cheers,
Charles.

Yes, then i think you can use the bosch as an 2 channel igniter as you would be controlling dwell with your megasquirt ecu.
After having another look at the PDF linked to previously, you may not need to invert the spark output. It says "switching 0to 5.0v" which could be read as switching to 5v for a spark event.
cheers,
Charles.

so i just go from the squirt to the pins on the bosch unit,
eg ms output a to pin 2 on the bosch
and output b to pin 7 on it.
so i do this mod, for R24 & 26 (SPARK A & B)
then as the pic i would take the white to IGN and blue to IAC2B
then from the db37 connector to Pin 2 & 7 pin 2 been spark a and 7 been spark b
is this all i need to do for spark control.
sorry for been such a newbie at this......
if thats the case then im a happy bunny and doing it at weekend lol

From what you have shown, you seem to be on the right track. Make sure that spark A & B function (leds flash) when connected to the stimulator. Your Bosch module is basically 2 VB921s in one case. It is good in that you locate all the power carrying lines away from the MS. Hook it up and try it. As for determining if it is inverted or not, I would try inverted first and check it with a timing light to see if it follows the timing as you type in fixed values. Make sure you set dwell calculation to be on. I think good basic values are 5 cranking, 3.8 running. These should show up when you turn on dwell control. If it fires and runs and the timing is accurately held as you increase rpms, then it does take an inverted input. If it moves around as you rev it, switch it to normal and check again.
