Ok so I have 6 VB921s wired....now how do I test?

Post by Jon k »

I have 6 VB921s wired with 680 ohm resistors off of Spark A B and C (R26, R27, R29) grounded to pins 10 - 15 on the DB37 and trigger output thru a DB9. I used an ohm meter on the #3 and #2 legs of Spark Output C's 2nd VB921 and with the dial at 200k i got a reading of 0 pulse to 35.0 or .35 (i forget) pulsing up to ~40.0 or .40 or something like that. That was between the ground lead #3 and the trigger output lead #2. Does this sound like everything is working right? I set dwell to 3.3ms for now, spark inverter, and stim for wheel until I get the manhood to test it on the car!

either put it on the stim and connect a coil pack to it and see what happens, or try LED's instead of a coil pack to ensure they are switching as you expect them to. http://www.extraefi.co.uk/Videos/V3_Test_Rig.mp4

What are you using for +12v? Car battery? Can you explain how you set it up - what's going on in that pic?

yeah im using a car battery, the coil packs are simply wired as they should be then i have wound a thick wire around all the 4 HT posts and made them so they just sit in the middle of the hole without touching the connector for the HT. The wire doesnt go any where, its simply sitting in the air of all 4 posts

So is that wire grounded or something? What's the point of it? Are there any sparklugs in that or is the coil sparking to that wire? I don't really understand what's going on but I want to duplicate that to test my spark out
