So I opened a DB9 cable for ignition hook up...
I installed a DB9 connectors on the back of my MS to output 6 igintion signals. The wires inside are quite thin. I'd say 22 gauge, maybe 24 gauge. Are these thick enough to handle the task? If not... what do you all suggest?

No, you'll want to solder your own.
20 guage is about the limit for solder DB-9; 18 gauge is possible if you're very careful
