Switching MS-II to MS-I chip, I can no longer connect??
Everything works perfect with the stimulator with the MS-II chip installed using Megatune 2.25.
I switch out the chip for a MS-I V.3.0 chip. Changed the .ini to the .029 file and also changed it to MegaSquirtnSpark-Extra with the configurer.
When I start Megatune it does not and will not connect. Using the same com port as before (tried other just for kicks with no change)
The stimulator shows the the ECU seems to be functioning. The injector leds increase speed with RPM.
Any ideas?
Do I need to change some stuff on the pcb for the chip change?
Thanks
Randy

Check the baud rate in Megatune Communications Settings. It needs to be 9600 for MS1.

I have the same problem when I try to connect if the chip has the b&g code on it. Reflash it with the extra code, and it should connect.Eville140 wrote:Everything works perfect with the stimulator with the MS-II chip installed using Megatune 2.25.

Did you try Communications->Settings Test ?
If yes then you are getting some comms. Once that passed, what does Megatune report on startup?
Expected ....
Received ....
type of thing.
If the comms port and speed are set correctly and you get some comms then the other problem is whether you have
a. File->Activate d the correct .ini file in the Megatune configurator
b. used the configurator to choose the correct code in your settings.ini

okay, thanks for the helps everybody, but it is still kicking my butt.
I used the config program and changed it to the regular old B+G MS1 stuff and if works perfect.
When I activate the msns-extra.ini.029c in the Megatune 2.25 config program and then set the CODE_VARIANT to MSNS_EXTRA and rename the msns-extra.ini.029c file to msns-extra.ini I have the problems. It doesn't connect. baud rate and com port are correct.
How do I reflash the chip with the extra code? Do I use the MSII doewnlaoder or somehting else? And where would i find this code for reflashing? Sorry if it seems feel like I need to be hand fed, but trust me I have tried everything, searched, downlaoed, uninstalled/reinstalled, and even tried things that I was sure wasn't going to work.
I'm at the point where I am about to give up, I've even posted my msII setup forsale Time is harder to find than money and I'm afraid I might have to spend a bucnh more money for a system with less options.
Thanks

If you haven't installed the firmware then it won't work.
