Tried running a .001 uf cap and got no change in the RPM flipping out. Also tried a 1uf and .5 uf and found those were to high a value and let none of signal reach the board. Going to go buy some .1uf caps tomorrow and try that.

You should also check with your scope the signal coming into the translator board. If there is noise on this you could have a resulting bad output signal. Make sure that your scope can take the potentially high voltage from the VR sensor.

I forgot to say that you should also check the signal coming out of the LM1815 (both of them but I would suspect more the one connected to the gear wheel U1). It is possible that the voltage from the VR sensor becomes too high so you might need to increase the input resistor R1.

Im just about to convert my 5 cyl audi s2 onto megasquirt hopefully using the standard sensors. It's a standard 3b model so it's the one with a distributor and has 135 flywheel teeth, one TDC marker at 62 degrees and a hall sensor (one pulse per cam rev) in the dizzy.

Did anyone make any progress with the divider board?

I dont really want to run a 60-1 wheel on it so thought i'd check on this forum before i did anything drastic.

I haven't heard from the ones who were testing this in quite a while. And since I can only do bench testing with a modified JimStim and I don't have a real setup, I can't do more at this time since it does work on the bench.

Maybe one of the testers will chime in.

I finally have my car all sorted out, and now that i have a stable test platform, i can tag into the vr sensors that are still on the car but not being used. I have a spare ecu and harness so I hope to have a useable signal soon.

To anyone who's interested...

I've been working with Jean on this. I've got an already-MS'ed 10VT Audi and can test Jean's setup as soon as I get my hands on it. So hopefully we'll have some more info soon.

What I did not know as I just discovered this thread about half an hour ago is that Jean already had a PC board made up for this! :yeah!:

Jean: if you're reading this, contact me! I'll gladly buy the entire kit and am anxious to get testing ASAP. Triggering off the distributor is making it hard to get this car tuned properly. :(

Update for anyone watching this thread or searching: it is possible to run a 5-cylinder Audi with the factory sensors... I'm doing it! :D

Right now I'm using a circuit of my own design, but I got the kit from Jean a couple of days ago and will be switching to his which has a number of advantages over mine. I'll post again here once we get it working.

One small disclaimer: I'm posting to this thread because it pertains to 5-cylinder Audis, but I'm running MS2 not MS1. However I see no reason this wouldn't work on MS1.
