HEI module connect

After I made the modifications on my MS board v2.2 according to http://megasquirt.sourceforge.net/extra/setup-hei7.html so I wonder how can the MS read the signal from the R pin on the HEI module because it can read (-) signeles only not + or is´t me how thinking wronge?
I need litle help.
