Converting from MS-II to MS-I Extra, What Changes

Post by Mad Professor »

I have desided to convert from MS-II to MS-I, So that I can have full support for my stock 60-2 Trigger Wheel & Direct Wasted Spark Control.

At this point in time I am using MS-II with PCB v3.0, EDIS Module & Coil Pack, 36-1 Trigger Wheel.

I have all ready bought and got a MS-I CPU, 2nd VB921, resistors, ect.

But what I would like to know if what hard ware changes I need to do and how to wire it all up, as I have read meny posts and thay differy grately.

Thanks for your time.

The biggest thing is to make sure you don't put 12v on pin 16 of the MS1 cpu. I actually cut off that pin on mine...

Right so your saying it's best to cut off pin 16 from the MS1 CPU.

As for the internal mods I need to follow the below.

That's correct MP-- setup the ignition input jumpers for VR input to read your 60-2 wheel, setup the VB921's as you've shown here, and work out your trigger settings in MegaTune. There is more info on this here: http://megasquirt.sourceforge.net/extra ... wheel.html though I'm thinking you've been to that page. I'm sure some of the MSnS-E forum guys can help if you get stuck with the trigger settings-- they know more about that than I do....

And before anyone points it out I know I need a heat sink on the 2nd VB921, It's only mounted there so I could solder it up.
