Help with 4AGZE setup (12-1 wasted spark)

Post by mhiscott »

Ok, I've been having quite a bit of issues with my setup, and I guess I'll start off my post with a rundown on what's happened with my car since I attempted the MS install. First of all, the car is a 92 Corolla with an AE101 4AGZE engine. It was running excellently last season with the stock ECU, but at 15-16 psi, it was at the limits of what the stock ecu could handle. Anyhow, I decided to go with MS and picked up a v2.2 unit with the relay board. I wired up the car using the wasted spark setup after having adapted the stock CAS to appear as a 12-1 wheel to MS (because it's on the camshaft) I'm running two vb921s powering two MSD coilpacks (one for cyl 1+4, and another for cyl 2+3) Anyhow, this was all working really nice and I started the car up a couple of weeks ago. Somehow, however, the spark output accidently got set to non inverted. This caused the vb921s to fry, but after replacing them with new ones, the car ran again. I realized at this point that my LC-1 wasn't working (broken DACs) so I sent that back for repair and decided I'd use a narrowband 4 wire in the mean time. Since that time, all I've done was hook up the 4 wire o2 sensor, and change my sensors from toyota ones (CLT and AIT) to GM sensors.
The car won't start now. I've checked pretty much EVERYTHING. The temperatures are reading correctly, I've got the same spark/fuel maps loaded as when it was working properly, I've reset the engine to 10degrees BTDC and reset the CAS position to make sure the timing wasn't messed up. I've pulled all the plugs and tested them all, as well as all the spark plug leads, they all spark. All injectors are firing, as well as the fuel pump is working fine.
The only abnormality I've noticed is that the fast idle relay on the relayboard is continuously clicking. I don't recall it doing that before, but as it stands now, the car just won't start. The engine backfires a bunch, and sounds like it's ALMOST catching, but not quite. I've run out of ideas and this is quite frustrating due to the fact that it just stopped working without any significant changes. I've tried unhooking the 4 wire o2 sensor I added, and it's no different. Any ideas?

Thanks in advance,
Mike

continuous clicking == settings are conflicting... Use megatune,
hyperterminal or megatunix to retrieve the error code. This is
documented in the forums and at http://megasquirt.sf.net/extra
