PWM Fast Idle?

Post by defiance »

I've done some searches and the only discussion I can find where people are really specifying the parts they're using for PWM idle control are the bosch super-expensive ones. Not paying that much for idle control, though. Having said that, I've had VERY bad luck with used parts on this car, so I'm adamant about sticking with new. With that in mind, I've come up with this :

http://www.partsamerica.com/ProductDeta ... 06&ptset=A

little over $40 for a 2-wire ford PWM valve.
The only problem I see with it is that I'm going to have to make some form of adapter and a way to mount it to my throttle body. I'm sure I can come up with something, though.
Having said that, has anyone seen a reasonably priced PWM valve that would be a bit more convenient to install? I'm expecting a no there, but can't hurt to ask, right? :P

Also, I believe I've already got ztx650's on my MS board, should I still switch to the TIP122, or should I be alright leaving the 650s on there?

That valve you lnked to is slightly opened... and opens
farther when power is applied. The one with the big
cylinder on the other end of the flange is a spring loaded
'closed' valve and opens when power is applied.

If you want one of the ones pictured in your link...
contact me off list. I have a brand new one of that style
here that I'll not be using. I can even include a matching
connector/pigtail for your wiring harness :-) Cheap!

One of the many comapnies out ther now selling assembled
MS units and suport stuff, makes an adapter for this
valve. (an aluminum block with hose connections. Dig
around on their sites and you'll find that block.

For a massive list of the valves..and which car they're
used on... check out
http://www.tomco-inc.com/Catalog/28iac- ... valves.pdf

I use the one similar to figure 1. The big body past the
valve is a large spring that closes the valve. Power is
applied to open it.

There is an index/cross reference as to which vehicle each
fits. The holes for he air passages are differnt sizes for
different engine sizes.

A whole tech article can be found o nth4 same site...
http://www.tomco-inc.com/Tech_Tips/ttt23.pdf

hell.... the whole site is PACKED with info
http://www.tomco-inc.com/ look att he tech tips as well
as the catalogs for more pdfs like the one linked above.
