Still get spark with VR backwards?

Just a simple question - with the MS turned off, would I get a spark out of the EDIS even if the VR was wired backwards?

I'm not getting a tach signal to the MS and am starting down the path of narrowing the possibilities...

Try swapping VR leads first. That's probably the #1 EDIS issue. Everybodies got a 50:50 chance unless they carefully check the sensor first!
