explain
hey there everyone. i am setting up msns and i want to start controlling my spark. i just cant seem to understand these steps.....could someone please explain
Setup - VR sensor
1) Set the crank at 20BTDC
3) Make sure the rotor arm points towards the correct contact in the distributor cap
4) Bolt down the distributor
5) Turn engine backwards until the pip lines up with the VR sensor
6) Measure angle BTDC (+/- 10 degrees is good enough) at the crank
7) Enter measured angle in "Trigger angle"
Enter "Fixed angle" to 10 degrees
9) Start the engine
10) Adjust "Trigger angle" until the timing light is at 10 degrees
11) Set "Fixed angle" to -10
12) Start tuning

You need a degree indicator for your crank pulley. Rotate the engine until it is at 20 degrees before top dead center on cylinder #1.
3) Make sure the rotor arm points towards the correct contact in the distributor cap
Take the cap off and make sure the rotor is pointing toward the terminal for cylinder #1. If it isn't, loosen the distributor and turn it until the rotor is pointing at the correct terminal.
4) Bolt down the distributor
Retighten the distributor if you had to loosen it.
5) Turn engine backwards until the pip lines up with the VR sensor
Turn the engine backwards until the nearest tooth on the wheel lines up with the sensor.
6) Measure angle BTDC (+/- 10 degrees is good enough) at the crank
Note the angle on your crank degree indicator.
7) Enter measured angle in "Trigger angle"
In "Spark Settings", enter the angle on your degree indicator for "Trigger angle".
Enter "Fixed angle" to 10 degrees
On the same "Spark Settings" screen, enter 10 degrees for "fixed angle".
9) Start the engine
10) Adjust "Trigger angle" until the timing light is at 10 degrees.
Use a timing light to observe your timing angle BTDC at the crank. It should be 10 degrees BTDC. If it isn't, add or subtract from your trigger angle until you see 10 degrees BTDC at the crank.
11) Set "Fixed angle" to -10
This turns off fixed angle. Your timing at the crank pulley should follow your timing map now.
12) Start tuning
