Msns distributor question

Post by linuxman51 »

I've got my trigger angle dialed in, and everything seems to be fairly good to go (Well until I put an msd 6a on the car), but a couple of nights ago i burned the cap/rotor up. This should be a short term problem since i'm about to put wasted spark cop on the car, but for my own personal gratification i'd like to get an opinion on whats going on.

My current TA is 7 degrees, and from what i've been able to gather this puts the ms in next cylinder mode. on a whim today i turned the ta up to around 50, this advanced the timing at the crank about 50 degrees, is the car still in next cylinder mode or is this an indication of other issues? It runs fairly well at the current ta (Aside from the cap/rotor problem but i've heard tell an msd is hard on that stuff anyway) until the timing gets really low (as in, around the ta low, at 16psi if i dont drop timing the car knocks) and anomalys show up. i'm currently using either 29I or 29L (as read from the top of MT)

Did you rotate the dizzy when you changed your trigger angle? You can't just change it.
Check the rotor phasing. Perhaps the spark is jumping too far and causing your burning up problems.
