Question about the Neon/420A decoder

Post by turbodudey »

I have a question about the settings and configuration for the Neon/420A crank decoder. I just finished building my MS-1 V3.0 pcb running MSnS-E version 029q2 and I'm using MegaTune 2.25.

I plugged in my stim and everythink seems to be working fine, except when I go to configure it for the Neon crank decoder it quits working. By that I mean that the LEDs on my stim quit flashing and the RPM and injector PW gauges in MegaTune turn red. All the other gauges still work and reflect the changes that I make to the pots on the stim, but the realtime status indicates "cranking". No matter what else I do, it still just says "cranking" and the RPM and PW gauges stay blank. Is this normal? Or am I missing something?

I tried loading Boost Junkie's msq, because he's using the Neon/420A decoder, and it still doesn't work. If I disable the Neon decoder and enable Distributor (MSnS) instead, everything starts working again.

I have my MS modded with the imput and output mods to run MSnS-E on a Neon/420A w/ 2 internal VB921s, and I modded my stim for a wideband O2.

Does the stim just not work for this configuration, or have I setup something wrong?

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

The stim creates a simple square wave signal that simulates a hall sensor. It does not create the complex 420A pattern so the Megasquirt will read zero rpm on the stim.

If you want to check out stuff on the stim, temporarily enable MSnS (dizzy) mode instead of 420A - just remember to swap it back before running on the car.
