Idle issues

Post by scirocco_per »

The engines idle only runs at 1500-1700rpm, if i try to lower it then it will go up and down and later die.

When i drive the car on the road it´s working wery well.

Are you using any kind of idle control?

If not, try setting all the bins in the idle area of the VE table to the same value. I also do this same thing with my spark table and it helps with idle stability but it is not 100% necessary.

Yes I have try to using 2-wire Bosch idlecontrol but now i have disconnect it.

And i have the VE and spark at the same value but when the engine comes below 1500rpm it dies

What are the minimum and maximum MAP and RPM Bins for your VE table? If you can do a screen capture of your VE table it would be helpful.

Also, check your PW at 1500-1600. If it goes below 1.0 you need to reduce the number of squirts in the basic setup screen. I had a similar issue on decel with 440cc injectors.

I have connect fuel pressure regulator to the system so i have lower fuel pressure at idle. Befor I have 1,5 PW and now 2,5PW but it is same with the idle.

What is your injector open time and what is your fuel pressure at idle?

Injectors open time at idle 3,8ms (1600rpm) and 3,2bar (46,4PSI) fuel pressure at idle.

The first thing I noticed is your TPS is not working or not calibrated. But, I don't think this is all of your problem.

What have you tried with regard to adjusting VE's up or down? I would try droppoing VE's at idle by maybe 5-10% and log that to see the effect.

You should know that on a warm engine ,having to rich ve-bins at idle the idle will be high, and on ethanol the effect of over enrichment is not as evident as if you run on gasoline.

So the engine might run very well at idle but you can´t get the rpm:s down.

The answer is in "moonshining" (hemmabrännare på jänkespråk) smell in the exhaust 8)

I see that you are running 1.0 ms delay and 50 % pwm. You might try increasing those a bit. Too low will cause idle problems.
Turbo motors I've squirted. 4cyl subarus, 6 cyl subaru with vvt&vvl, honda3.5 with vtec, aircooled vw's, toyota v8, 2.5l autocraft, turbo intercooled yamaha rhino, more to follow

But I run low impedance injectors?
I have read the manual:

If you have low impedance injectors (less than 4 Ohms), set the:
PWM Time Threshold to 1.0 msec, and
PWM Current Limit to 75%(30% if you have installed the 'Flyback Board' daughter card).

If I lower the PWM more than 50% the engine stops, how hight can I go up?

If the delay or the pwm is too low , it will cause an erratic idle , but it will run better at higher pw's. I have seen this happen. If you have a v3 board, then you should be able to run the pwm very low. Try increasing the delay a bit. You won't hurt anything at idle.

Idle issues

Have you tried to get your car running on gasoline? This might make troubleshooting easier.

Then I believe you can just scale the VE after that for the difference in AFR. You will need to search the threads that have E85 in the subject to find out exactly. I hope it wasn't more than 6 month ago. But, at one time there was alot of dicussion about using E85 and how to switch from one to the other. There was even discusion of how to implement the sensor GM uses to adjust for different ratio's of gas to alcohol.
