I am modifying by V2.2 board to run a Ford PWM valve. I am planing on using a TIP122. In the instruktions on the MS&E page R16 is to be replaced and D9 installed when using ZTX650. But should this also be done when using the TIP122?

PWM idle modification
You can just pull the 2N2222 and replace it with either a ZTX650 or TIP122. The ZTX can switch somethine like 2A and the TIP122 can switch 8A. I don't think any other mods are required for PWMidle on the V2.2 board.
The TIP122 leads will need to be trimmed to fit into the holes that the 2N2222 was in. The other method is to insert wires where the 2N2222 was and mount the TIP122 to the case or some other location.
