I'm running MSnS with the Extra code. I have a 3 tooth wheel for my VR sensor (6 cyl), hooked up to a 4 pin HEI module to condition the signal for the MSNS-E.
It's been running great for quite some time, but now it will not get any rpm reading. When I connect my laptop I get 0 rpm while cranking when previously I was getting a normal reading.
The HEI module has been replaced, VR sensor tests ok, all of the external stuff looks fine which leads me to the MS unit.
What can I check on the board, and how should I test it? I didn't build the board, but I'm armed with a good volt/ohm meter if someone can tell me what to look for.
All of this happened after my tach shorted out and started smoking. The wiring for that however isn't running directly from the MS, so I'm not sure how this could have caused a problem. I don't see anything that looks obviously fried on the board.
