Post by 65looter »

I am trying to decide, which code would be best to use?
the old one 26h8 or the latest one 29q2?

thanks for your time

Hi there,
029 has a small issue with the ASE and Warmup that is in the middle of being cured, 026h8 works as close to 100% as possible, thats why I sent your MS to you with it, but 029 is a better code and Iam using it, so the answer is use 029 and if you find it doesnt work for some reason let us know and go back to 026h8,
Phil

the "thing" is:

I start the car fine, it idles more or less ok (it's a V8 with a wild cam....) warm up to normal temperature.
You can blip the throttle, engine willl revs up and down fine.
then the thing: you blip the throttle a little bit more and the engine revs will not ho down, they're stuck at different rpms (1200, 1400, 1500 etc...) you have turn off the engine.

if someone could tell me what;s wrong.... argh

cheers

I'm just a Vw guy but I have that problem in my beetle sometimes (only when warm) but it's the throttle plate not centering properly in the throttle body.

Just a thought :)

Likely to be an IAC control issue. Can you tell us more about what you're using to control the idle?

I back up what Mario says. Since it's a fuel only setup then the butterfly not returning fully would raise the idle, or worn bushes in the shaft leaking air?

Ian.

This is true. Thoguh I had a few problems with stick IAC valves and also with the ingition computer (which also controlled the IAC valve) holding the valve open ready to "catch" the falling revs - if you were *just* unlucky it would catch it too well and the fuellign computer would fuel for the open IAC and it never dropped.

like the others said, it sounds like more air is getting through than you would like. EIther through a gasket, sticky throttle, or something. If you are running PWMIdle closed loop, I would look here. First try 'warmup only' which is open loop control just to see what is going on. Either that, or just close off the AIC somehow and get a base tune first.

I am not using any valves to control the idle.

I will check that tonight, you might be right now that I think about it.

edit:
Just thiniking of something else, I have looked for leaks and I am 99.99% sure there are none.
If I had some if would occur everytime I blip the throttle, but it's a random one.
So the sticky throttle might be the last thing to check.

I may have fixed it

I have checked the throttle plates, and 2 of them would not close correctly. not by much, just a little but that's enough to cause chaos i think.....
well i could not start the engine as it's late.... 8)

I might test it tomorrow, if that's has curred my issue, then on the road i will be.
