MS1/extra EDIS v3 build issues

Post by MattKab »

I want to use MS1/extra with EDIS (seams a popular set-up, 'not my reason why, but) I'm having a hard time following the instructions and I'm not ashamed to admit it.

My MS works great on the stim/laptop. My engine isn't ready.

The problem I'm having is related to board mods for EDIS.

I see I have to remove R12 and replace with a 1.3k, does this resistor have to be equally as big in physical size to R12? It also says 1k - 10k is ok, I have a 3k but it's smaller, like most of the resistors on the board. Can I use the resistor I have?

I have to jumper TACHSELECT to XG1. TACHSELECT is already jumpered to OPTOIN. Do I leave this existing jumper in place?

I'm nearly there, help! I've searched for 2 evenings, I can't even find the EDIS sub-forum

You can use a 1/4w resistor for R12 in the EDIS configuration. It only needs to be 1/2w when the circuit is set up to connect directly to the coil.

Remove the jumper between Tachselect and Optoin, then run the new jumper from XG1 to Tachselect. Make sure there is a jumper between Tsel and Optoout.

Thank You Glen.

I have XG2 jumpered to XG1. I remove this too?

I need clarification on this too.

looking at the circuit, there would also need to be something jumpered to OPTOIN to make a circuit, but i see no mention of that in the desc...

EDIT - no i see the pull up to 12V is done with the link to S12C.

ok but i still have no RPM from the stim

Ok, sorted it.

The stim wasnt driving the RPM signal hard enough.
I changed R4 (on stim) to 4k7

It works now.
