Hi to every one. A friend of mine bought a 1995 Kia sportage with a 2.0 single cam engine and has a MS1 3.0 connected with Hyundai coils.
Ok I need to know which crank signal the engine has, I checked in the forums and I found the signal is from a hall sensor. when I check the
ecu it have vr signal jumpers, I changed to hall signal jumpers but there is not rpm signal. I read in the manual that there are two different hall signal.
One is high to low positive to neg and the other low to high neg to positive. Ok somebody know which crank sensor signal the engine use. I will appreciate any help.
For make the jumpers and see if it start.
Thanks.
Eluis.

Re: Kia sportage crank signal
Can somebody help me with? or should I change the original crank sensor for another vr sensor who fit in the bell housing?
Re: Kia sportage crank signal
It's a toothed wheel 60-2
Re: Kia sportage crank signal
Thanks northwind do you know how should I have to make the jumpers for the hall sensor signal. Because I am not sure which of these jumpers will work.
Thanks again for your reply.

Re: Kia sportage crank signal
It's not a hall sensor, it's a VR sensor.
Re: Kia sportage crank signal
I think is not a vr sensor because I checked the signal with the original ecu of the car and the signal pulse is positive there is not ground signal when it pulse. I checked the 3 wires of the sensor and one has a positive signal with about 9 or 8 volts the other wire is for output signal and the other ground.
Re: Kia sportage crank signal
In that case maybe I have a different version of Sportage.
As I know toothed wheel only use for VR.
What did you use to check? Oscilloscope or VOM?
