Source of a good Hall and loosing EDIS Q's

Post by andy198712 »

Hi,

i run MS1 2.2 extra for ignition only ( at the minute) for a 1200 vw air cooled beetle,

i run the EDIS module and its VR sensor.

The plan is to run my bigger engine i'm building on the same ECU and run FUEL and SPARK.

But i really want a rev limiter and i can't do that with EDIS.

So i'm thinking of going HALL effect and direct firing the Ford coil this way, and just loosing the EDIS module and the VR.

is this the easiest way for me to go direct fire with 2.2 extra board?

also any good sources, IE cars and location for a good hall sensor?

my current trigger wheel is a steel pulley with 6mm holes drilled in it, and one hole is slotted between its neighbour to make the missing tooth.

Any advice would be great!

Cheers

Andy

PS i'm slow on the wiring diagrams but can take pictures, point, and solder ;)

Where did you get that? Just curious.....

FWIW.... when I ran EDIS I just cut the fuel.

Don't get me wrong though. I have no problem with ditching the EDIS.

Thats a good point actually! as i'm currently running a carb and just doing ignition i completely forgot about fuel cut! what a plank!

will have to mull this one over, but i'd still like to switch to direct fire and going Hall sensor seems the easiest way with MS1 2.2 extra... is it a case of undoing the mods for EDIS and following the diagrams on the extra site right?

Also spark cut has the advantage (to some) of shooting flames and pops.... (i do try to be an adult now and again ;) )

cheers guys
