Wait... you're using a Bosch ignitor not factory 4age ecu for spark?
Got a link to Bosch ignitor or details?
Is tacho input coming off coil -ve now?
You know what I'd do after having added bunch of circuits to a MS v2.2 board.... go to DIY auto tune and get their add on board with dual VR input and tacho out, etc.

Then you can run distributor input into MS and have it control a single coil for adjustable timing.

Re: ae71 4age corolla on MS122-C fuel only coil neg rpm nois
correct, i currently have my distributor running to a bosch 4pin ignitor, then to the coil. coil power is ran off my switchboard inside the cabin, and rpm for MS is ran of the negative coil terminal. so i currently have no timing adjustment and just run locked timing. i just went down to my shop again and noticed that when the rpm drops, its looks like almost if not every time it drops to half of the actual rpm... for example if its running 3200rpm itll drop to say 1600rpm for a split second and the engine will stumble (a fuel stumble not a spark stumble). so why would it randomly show half rpm for a split second?? it does it at idle as well... seems to be worse when you give it more rpm.suberimakuri wrote:Wait... you're using a Bosch ignitor not factory 4age ecu for spark?

Hmm. If ignitor has taco out then sure try it, else as above.
Re: ae71 4age corolla on MS122-C fuel only coil neg rpm nois
i tried the other pins on the ignitor with no luck, just to clarify- i only need that one wire that goes to the coil negative correct? nothing else needed for rpm?suberimakuri wrote:Hmm. If ignitor has taco out then sure try it, else as above.

One wire from ms. One wire from ignitor.
Coil positive switched 12v.
Coil positive switched 12v.

I have two from ignitor to coil but yeah thats pretty much my setup.. i dont get why it doesnt want to work
Re: ae71 4age corolla on MS122-C fuel only coil neg rpm nois
I still have the factory VAST ignitor, maybe i will try to use that.
Re: ae71 4age corolla on MS122-C fuel only coil neg rpm nois
If i was to use the factory toyota VAST ignitor would i need to mod the MS eith hoe its currently set up?

I bought a used working MSD 6A #6200 Ignition today, im going to wire it in tomorrow and use the TACH OUT pin on the MSD to hopefully trigger my Megasquirt. Fingers crossed!!
Re: ae71 4age corolla on MS122-C fuel only coil neg rpm nois
So i put the MSD 6A in... wired the MSD tach output to MS rpm.. ans it WORKED!! Clean rpm signal throughout.. thanks guys!!
