No spark on Mazda 323 1.8 bp-05 engine

Post by christian86ro »

Hello,

My name is Christian and I am helping a friend with his MS1 v3.0 extra set-up. We have reached a dead end. The problem is that we do not know how to wire the CAS sensor. We want to control the coil from ms and have made the board modification from here: http://www.msextra.com/doc/ms1extra/MS_ ... htm#msdout.

Other modification are made for hall sensor input 12v low to high from here: http://www.msextra.com/doc/ms1extra/MS_ ... l.htm#hall.

The car has no trigger and no spark.

Are there any other modifications needed?

Thank you very much.

I have made some research and came across this : http://www.msextra.com/doc/ms1extra/MS_ ... l.htm#5cyl our car is a DOHC but it has only one coil for all 4 pistons. It is ok if we make the modifications for SOHC or we need to do the DOHC ones, and how to control the coil in DOHC case?

Thank you very much.

If it has a distributor, it needs one, and only one, spark output.

So, we should make the mod for SOHC then?

You may use a 5 volt logic level ignition output with the stock ignition module or direct coil control - whatever you prefer.

Hello Matt,

I have made the modification on the board, LED 17 it is blinking, i have rpm reading, made the modification for running a bosch module (a 750r from the wire leading from (-) side of D14 to IGN (pin 36) to the 5v area), but there is no spark. The module and coil work, i have grounded the command wire and the coil fired. Do you have any other ideeas on what should i do else?

thank you!

If this module is triggered by grounding the pin instead of by a 5 volt signal, set spark output inverted to Yes - and make sure the module doesn't get hot with the key on and engine off.
