TFI EMS-PRO no spark when PIP is connected

I have a weird problem. I have an efi source EMS-PRO. When I connect my TFI PIP to the tach input signal (green / white wire) I get no spark. The fuel injectors pulse so I must be getting tack. As soon as I remove the PIP I get spark. I have the DIP switch settings exactly like the manual says. EFI source told me to ground OPTOIN.
