MS1 jumpers like MS2

Post by Bzltyr »

I bought a MS1 from who-knows-who and I opened it up and the jumpers seem to follow the MS2 jumper directions.

S12c is jumpered to JS9
TSEL is jumpered to VROUT
VRIN is jumpered to TACHSELECT
IAC2B is jumpered to JS3
IAC2A is jumpered to JS2
IAC1B is jumpered to JS1
IAC1A is jumpered to JS0
JS10 is jumpered to IGN

There is no Q16 on the heat sink board.

I hooked it up to a JimStim and it kept losing signal.
I hooked it up to a new style JimStim and it worked fine and stayed on.

Are these jumpers correct for the MS1?
What are the chances that this unit will work or did some of these jumpers trash the processor or other necessary components?

Thanks.

This is from an older manual as I can't find it in the latest one. It is referring to MS 1.

if you are going to use an IAC stepper motor with MegaSquirt-II, you must install a jumper from the hole marked S12C to the hole marked JS9 (+12C). These are on the bottom side of the board, on the DB9 side of the processor. DO NOT INSTALL THIS JUMPER FOR NON-MegaSquirt-II APPLICATIONS - IT WILL DESTROY THE PROCESSOR!!

Thanks for the reply.

That jumper is installed on my MS1. Everything still works according to the JImStim.

I am going to remove all the jumpers before giving it power.

That's definitely set up for an MS2. That JS9 jumper is what will pop your MS1, while the IAC wires are just along for the ride at this point.

Thanks for the reply.

Since my last post I have removed those jumpers and uploaded the 29y firmware.
I am getting it ready to run EDIS on a 429 Ford in a 1970 1/5 Falcon. Ignition only.
