Hello everyone,
I've had this problem for 2 years and i thought maybe now is the time to ask from the experts.
The car is ford sierra -86 with 2l ohc engine in it. Turbo'ed and squirted by previous owner. With this setup, dyno'ed over 400hp@2bar some years ago.
4bar map sensor, 1gt101dc hall reading 5-1 (or something) trigger wheel.
The problem:
Random misfires under high rpm/boost/load. Sometimes it'll pull to the limiter with close to none misfires, sometimes it misfires so much i can't keep pressing the throttle.
During 2 years i've read alot of threads concerning megasquirt and rpm noise but i haven't found the answer yet. Maybe someone of you will notice something from these logs?
What i've done trying to fix the problem:
New spark plugs (non resistor, will this cause problems? To my knowledge the dyno run has been done with the same non resistor ngk ap8fs plugs).
New spark plug wires
New ignition coil (running wasted spark with a coil from ford mondeo/escort
Alot of adjusting through tunerstudio including dwell etc. (don't think the problem is there since it should be on same settings that it was when dyno'ed).
Thanks alot in advance. This problem is very frustrating.

The RPM input is acting up. Can you get a tooth log of the RPM issue?

Well i'll answer to my own question:
Never use non resistor plugs...
I've tried alot of different plugs to see if it made a change but what's common among all of these plugs is that they were all non resistorized.
What a stupid cause of misfiring, should've thought of this right away. Well live and learn.. Banging my head to the wall for almost 2 years yet the solution was so simple.
Now the car pulls clean to the limiter it appears.
Everyone who's having problems with misfires should really check basic things first and not think too complicated.
Thank you
PS.
Is it possible to get a tooth log with ms1? I've got a registered version of tunerstudio but never really looked into that section.

EDIS is notorious for needing resistor plugs. Having read that I didn't question it so simply used them. But don't know if it applies to all wasted spark set-ups using EDIS coils. It might be it has a minimum resistance requirment between coil and plugs, and short plug leads can't do this.

The firmware has the tooth logger function and I'm pretty sure that TunerStudio can read it.asfda wrote:Is it possible to get a tooth log with ms1? I've got a registered version of tunerstudio but never really looked into that section.
