Ms1 V3 Wasted spark to distributor

Post by john.p.clegg »

Dear All
Just a quickie,am running ( have been for years ) wasted spark on a ford/lotus four cylinder engine and am now trying to use a common throttle body and plenum and am experiencing explosions due to wasted ignition event when the inlet valve is open,so my theory is this...re-fit the distributor and single coil and power the coil from spark A and spark B teed together...will this work? is it that simple? or will some of the electronics/drivers be damaged?

Thanks
John

You don't tie Spark A and B together, you set the ignition settings to MSnS and only use Spark A.

Sounds like your timing or firing order is off, the waste spark should be firing when the exhaust valve is open, not the intake valve.

With cam timing figures of 66/26/26/66, the overlap period is 26 btdc for i/l valve and 26 atdc for the the exhaust valve and the wasted spark occurs approx 10 btdc, therefore firing when both inlet and exhaust are open, hence my dilemma...
