Strange 2 Place Spark misfire issue?

Post by phoenix3d »

Hi All...

Upfront I have an msq & Datalogs to post but rather looking for advise on where to look...

Setup on a 1.5JZ-GTE I6, wasted spark on individual coils (Dwell 2.1ms). 36-2 crank pickup, through a JBPerf VR dual Board (Using only 1 channel)

Car was running spot on until owner rebuilt the block....

Problem is....

Starts Perfect, Idles Perfect....

Up the RPM to ~1200 rpm spark starts to misfire (also visible LED stutter along with Definite Misfire)
then above ~1250ish clear again...

Then starts again at ~2300rpm same issue... Above that clear again...

Not to sure at any higher rpms as I don't see or hear anything (But possibly there) Don't want to damage motor - Drag Engine 2.2bar boost.

Datalogs Show Definite RPM bounce at these points, But so does the Batt Voltage...? Even with Alternator Off (Completely)

Using TS I see on teeth logger every now and again a "drop out" of a tooth, But Scoping the sensor directly shows Clean signal, Post MAX 9962 signal shows a "Glipse" on the input signal.

Any Suggestions on where to CHECK? Please any advise would be Good.

I Can post data if needed.

Regards
Gordon.

Quick Update!!

Problem Solved!! :yeah!:

It all came down to a missing contact spring inside the COP Coil on Cyl 1.

was causing noise due to the arc over inside the COP coil on to the plug terminal.

Shows you what a silly little spring can do..
