ms1 4000rpm ghost "limiter"
Do you guys have any idea that what could be messing around in my ms1? When the engine heats up (90c) it won't rev over 4000rpm? Like new rev limiter on 4000rpm.. On neutral it spins easily the 6400rpm but not on gears. New sparkplugs.

diyautotune hall crank sensor?
Re: ms1 4000rpm ghost "limiter"
Typical vr-sensor. I'll give you toothlog later today
Re: ms1 4000rpm ghost "limiter"
so here is a toothlog when the cancer hits. I hope this helps something. The most weird thing is that, when coolant is below 90 its easily goes to the REAL revlimiter (6400)

That .csv is not much help. Need to see your .msq and a full .msl datalog of the instance.

Ok so there is a factor you did not mention. Every logged run shown was 4k, but engine was in boost. Will it run over 4K but when not in boost? What is the plug gap?

Yes it will. About 0.6mm on NGK bpr7es.slow_hemi6 wrote:Ok so there is a factor you did not mention. Every logged run shown was 4k, but engine was in boost. Will it run over 4K but when not in boost? What is the plug gap?

Re: ms1 4000rpm ghost "limiter"
Change your plug gaps see if it gets better or worse. those plugs would be a 1mm gap from factory. You could be too close. I would try opening them up for starters.

Re: ms1 4000rpm ghost "limiter"
No change in the rpm or did it shift the point of break down? What type of ignition system is on the engine?

Re: ms1 4000rpm ghost "limiter"
No change at all. Fords 6cyl wastedspark and 3 ignitionrocks inside megasquirt (I don't know if "rock" is the right term but in Finland we call them sytkäkivi=ignition rock)slow_hemi6 wrote:No change in the rpm or did it shift the point of break down? What type of ignition system is on the engine?

Re: ms1 4000rpm ghost "limiter"
I used to use ford edis coils in wasted spark triggered by the "rocks". I ran a bit more dwell than you are using. 2 - 2.5mS if I remember correctly.

Re: ms1 4000rpm ghost "limiter"
Hmm, I could try that. Thanks.
Re: ms1 4000rpm ghost "limiter"
Oh, 2.5 dwell and got into 6000rpm! Coil felt normal in my hand. should i go higher to get to 6500where my limiter is?
Re: ms1 4000rpm ghost "limiter"
2.6ms didn't help..
