Hello,
3 - 2 - 1 - zerrrrro...... DIY CDI project starts NOW! :)

We reworked the SC DIY CDI article and you can download at http://www.molla.org/DIY-CDI/ I found a Yahoo-Group for discussion: If you're interested in a DIY CDI please join http://autos.groups.yahoo.com/group/DIY-CDI/ When layout is fixed (in a couple of weeks) , I'll offer a groupbuy.

Funny as I almost bumbed this topic up last night myself and now it's here. Personally I'd be more intressed in 2- or 4-channel CDI. I'll probably design my own PCB for testing. Planning to use 4 modified capasitor switcher circuits to do it.

Sounds VERY interesting, i'll be needing a cdi ignition too for my wacko project, so i'll just follow this thread, since you seem to know something. :D

Some night i'll blow up the whole garage, when i misstakely connect myself to the cdi circuit.

My pals tought about my MS. project, "if that works, i'm santa claus", when i was soldering the board, and a couple weeks later, we went for a drive on my car with MS.

I think I have all the parts to build a CDI box for my next MS project. It's going to be a 2-stroke single. What is the consensus for triggering the CDI box? At the moment, I'm inclined to use a VB921 and then use the points input on the CDI. Can anyone foresee a problem doing it that way?

Guy.

You don't have to use the VB921 to trigger the CDI box, but it makes for a good backup in case the CDI fails. Using points input is probably the best and simplest solution, I don't see any problems doing that.
