Updating firmware question...

Post by Willysjeepguy71 »

It has been several years since being on the forum and I'm a little rusty. Am I reading the manual correctly that when updating from 029y3 to 029y4a I do not have to open the case and jumper.
MS1
029y3

Thanks
Ryan

For anyone else who finds this question......if you are already running MSextra just follow the insteuctions in the MSEXTRA manual. No need to jumper to update. Also, just follow the instructions in the MS extra manual only, the notes in the zip file are outdated and conflicting.

They should have been correct when written, which was about 10 years ago.

I thought I updated the firmware on my MS, but It shows the serial signature: MS1/Extra format 029y3 and the "Found Firmware: MS1/Extra rev 029y4. It is my understanding that the firmware codes should match, otherwise it creates problems. Any insight would be helpful. I have already searched the forums for serial signature mismatch and found interesting information, but nothing that directly answers my question. Lt402vette or Jsmcortina if you can chime in that would be great. There have been so many changes over the years on the process of updating the current source code/ini files(started out with hyperterminal) that this has been a large source of frustration for me on this project.

After spending hours on researching this. I have found that the current 029y4 firmware uses the 029y3 ini. So I never needed to update my ini in the first place. I would think this could be simplified in one way or another to make it easier for users and avoid confusion and frustration.

I found this post which answered my question..
