What can one expect to build one of these for (price of the BOM + board)?

88 Tbird 2.3t, Microsquirt Module (PIMP), TFI ignition

Its a little more than $100.00 total. If you send me your email address I will send the BOM to you so you can upload it to Digikey for the latest parts pricing.
Parts from Digikey + bare board $33.00 + optional $5.00 for preprogrammed eeprom + shipping = a little over $100.00

Those are some great looking enclosures :D Do you have some inside shots of theme? Are going to sell them? If so how much? One last thing, where is the logger/mark switch?

Thanks, Huey

These dont have the mark/log switch on them , the customers want them to log as soon as they are plugged in , i have some microfit jr headers im going to use on the ones that want a switch ,and run a remote switch out of the case.

The case can be bought from here . http://www.web-tronics.com/43x2x1spboal.html you have to cut the length down about 3/8" and cut the end plates,im going to see about getting the end plates machined as it takes too long to do by hand.

I dont have a price yet for a finished case but as soon as i sort out the endplate machining i will know , i can also podercoat the case any color .

I want to buy some of these (fine with purchasing them assembled). Are they available in quantity now? Will likely want to purchase 5-10 of them.

This assumes you are assembling the unit and does not include enclosure or cables.

Hi Huey
Datalogger assembly is complete and am now testing. I do seem to have a communication problem though. In settings mode the LED’s appear to be lit correctly indicating the 115200 baud rate and settings mode and using hyperterminal I can display all settings and set date and time. I can display the current signatures but can not add a new signature. Using the propeller tool to load the eeprom also fails with a communication error message – ‘no propeller chip found on any serial port – scanned COM 1’. I have tested and confirmed that my serial cable is good and checked the com port configuration on my laptop which is also good. I have gone over the board with a magnifying glass to check solder joints and checked the placement of all components and have not been able to identify any problems.. I have upgraded the VDIP1 baud rate to 115200 successfully. At this stage I’m guessing that maybe there is a problem with the propeller chip (and I stress guessing). I would appreciate hearing from you with your thoughts on this matter and any other information that may assist me.

Thanks, Paul
Huey wrote,
I don't think it is the propeller chip if you can set the date and time using hyperterminal. The serial cable uses 1 extra wire to reset the propeller when using the propeller tool. Some serial cables do not have this extra wire so the reset never happens. Check the wiring diagram to see the extra wire I'm referring to, it is pin 4 on J1 of the data logger board.

Hope this helps , Huey

Thanks for the reply Huey. I made a new serial cable with the fourth wire on pin 4 and now I can load the eeprom using the propeller tool and have added the signature for MS2Extra 3.0.3x. I have grabbed a short log already and every thing looks good. On with the testing.

Hi,

Just to give this thread a little bump, now I about to assambly all hardware for the logger with a Innovative extension.
I will add a second com-port (2.5mm) that will communicate with the Innovate products (LC1, EGT etc), In my installation I have 4 EGT and AFR. The plan is to integrate them into the raw data format for view in MegaLogViewer.

So if anyone is one step ahead let me know or stay posted for updates in the recent future :D

I'm having two troubles right now, when I run Parallax serial terminal at 9600 baud
The information keeps scrolling on the screen is this right ? Also what is the format for setting
the time & date, after using the D and T command?

Version: 0.1.1b is setup to work with Hyperterminal so you don't need the Parallax serial terminal program anymore.

Just enter the decimal numbers when prompted to without spaces then hit enter.
