Megashift info
Is this the right forum to ask about Megashift? Is that a standalone product, or does it need to be used with an MS ECU?

Re: Megashift info
The best place should be the MSgpio forum since that's what it's based on.

Wow, another "parallel universe" of MS that I wasn't aware of! Answer me one more question here, so I can drop the whole idea: those gpio boards all require CAN input, from something like an MS ECM, correct?

Perhaps provide some more information on what you are trying to achieve?

Re: Megashift info
A GPIO MegaShift setup is able to connect to a MegaSquirt over CAN, but does not require it. There are some installs out there running around on carbed engines with no ECU whatsoever.

Re: Megashift info
I'm afraid this thread is dead. I misunderstood the price for the Megashift, I didn't realize it took the Megashift "kit" of special components and the basic GPIO kit. That puts the price up with the Microsquirt or MS2 trans-control options and beyond what this application justifies for me. I was vaguely aware of the Micro and MS2 options for trans control but hadn't looked at them, knowing the price would be too high.
The application here is the 4-spd "TAAT" trans used in old S-series Saturns. Although there is a devoted cult (me included!) that loves these cars, it has to be a rapidly diminishing need for an aftermarket trans controller. For troubleshooting I have done "manual" control using a rotary switch, the basic valve operation is pretty simple. I posed the question, on a Saturn-specific forum, of whether anyone had done trans control using a cheap micro-controller, like Arduino or Raspberry Pi. Someone there suggested Megashift, which I hadn't heard of, and my inquiries started... thinking the whole GPIO kit for that was only $26!
As to the particulars, the controller outputs would drive five solenoids, all 5 ohms @ 12V; three are on-off and two are PWM.
Inputs would be VSS, engine rpm, TSS (turbine speed), trans fluid temp, ECT, MAP, TPS, and brake switch. All those sensors are standard GM types or calibration. Oh, yeah also input of typical PRND32 switch and a "performance/normal" mode switch.
Like I said, I don't think this is a viable MS application, too bad.

Re: Megashift info
This sounds like it's not very different from other 4 speed GM transmissions.
