How to tell if a Bosch ignition unit does dwell?

Post by mickeymarrows »

I'm installing MS2 Extra to an 1992 Audi V6 and despite it not being 'the prefered method' I want to retain the factory fitted Bosch ignition module (I intend this to be a plug and play installation that will allow me to switch back to the factory ECU)

How can I tell if this unit is smart or dumb?

As far as I'm away the built-in dwell modules were only used standalone directly connected to a dizzy. Any module that was controlled by an ECU I would expect to require dwell control in Megasquirt.

Nothing wrong with keeping that module either - it should be perfectly matched to the coil.
