Ford Coilpack Capacitor wiring
Hello people,
I have the following capacitor on my car, but I don't know how this needs to be wired. Does it have two positives and is the bracket itself the ground or is one of these pins + and one -? If so which one is what? I don't have the part next to me at the moment, so i can't check if it is indicated in the capacitor itself.
Thanks in forward

Re: Ford Coilpack Capacitor wiring
Yes the metal clip is the ground.
The power wire is red with a green stripe. That is connected in series.

Re: Ford Coilpack Capacitor wiring
This is EDIS8, but shows the general idea:-
Rover SD1 3.5 EFI
MS2 V3
EDIS
Tech Edge O2
London UK.

I don't have the connector for this one yet, so the colors don't really mean anything to me yet. Also i am not on fully EDIS. So i understand you correct when i say that one pin is +12v from battery (only on with ignition) and the second pin is +12v to the coil pack, right?
Then also which pin is which doesn't matter
Sorry i guess this what you ment with in serie but as i am Dutch technical english is difficult sometimes to understand and i don't want to make mistakes in this case.
Thanks for the reply
Re: Ford Coilpack Capacitor wiring
there is just 1 wire used it ground through the metal tab
1990 bmw 320i daily driver with m20b25 ms3 sequential fuel, 380cc injectors, d585 coil near plug, home made cam sync, launch control, fan control, vss, homebrew egt logging what's next????
Re: Ford Coilpack Capacitor wiring
Yea then it is wired as in the EDIS diagram. So I will split the cable before going to the capacitor, so I think that its also possible to use both pins and not split before going to the capacitor. But I will check when I am at the car if the pins are connected internally to each other.
Thanks for all comments

Yes, do not split the wire, they are connected in the plug.
The plug is circled.
The two wires, red with green stripe.

Do you have auto recycling yards in your country, pay them a visit.Red_bull wrote:Thanks mate! That is also a much cleaner solution imo! Now i have to find this connector type
This ignition is common on Ford products, should have no problem finding the parts.
