What's the smallest/shortest logic-level COP?

Post by Healey3000 »

Hi,

Trying to see if I can use COP's on an engine that does not have centrally mounted spark plugs. The options are LS2 coils or COP's with some clever mounting bracket.

What OEM logic-level COP would you say is the smallest? I've seen pictures of RX-8 COP's that look really stubby.

Thanks.

Bike pencil coils would be the smallest ones but they are not logic.

Toyota 2AZ-FE coils are pretty popular in some circles. Not especially powerful, but reasonably small.

Thanks, Matt.

What about the Ecotec four-cylinder coils? In another thread here these were described as being LS2 coils in a COP format. However, on ebay I see something called an Ecotec coil control module that looks very much like an ignitor. Yet, the COP's have four pins, like an LS2.

They look pretty stubby and might fit well.

Late model Ecotecs (07 and up) have pencil style COPs that are electrically the same as LS coils. The earlier versions have an Ion sense wasted spark ignition.

Ion sense? That's intriguing.

Thanks!
