VW Coilpack connectors wanted
Hi.
I'm trying to find the connectors that fit into the coil towers of this VW Audi Wasted Spark Coil VAG P/No. 032905106B or Bremi 11731
I just want the connectors so I can make up the correct length leads using some standard generic brand leads that have appropriate spark plug boots to suit my car.
Can anyone point me in the right direction?
Jim

Re: VW Coilpack connectors wanted
Any vw dealer can get them along with the pins and wires
Re: VW Coilpack connectors wanted
You can get them from Ballenger Motorsports as a kit or as a pigtail.

Re: VW Coilpack connectors wanted
Sorry guys, what I was after was the plugs (4 off) that connect to the 4 coil towers i.e. the opposite end to the spark plug connector. I'll use them to graft on to a standard style spark plug lead cutt length.

Plug lead terminal might be a better term?

That style VW coil uses the same lead terminal as LS coils. These would work: http://www.summitracing.com/parts/msd-3303/overview/

Re: VW Coilpack connectors wanted
They sort of look the same as any similar plug connector - like a single coil or dizzy, etc? I usually raid a scrappy for EDIS plug leads and remove the connectors. They can all be re-used if you're careful. But you do need to find them for the same O/D plug wires.jb007 wrote:Sorry guys, what I was after was the plugs (4 off) that connect to the 4 coil towers i.e. the opposite end to the spark plug connector. Sorry Dave, they do look like just your everyday one, but they have a pin in the middle of the hole, which you can't see in the picture.DaveEFI wrote:They sort of look the same as any similar plug connector - like a single coil or dizzy, etc? I've ordered as per prof315 a set of connectors from Summit, hopefully this will end this thread. Thanks everyone for your input.

Re: VW Coilpack connectors wanted
The LS coil tower parts arrived today. Unfortunately they are not suitable. The pin inside the VW coil tower is a lot smaller than the hole in the mating connector on the LS side. The boots are also too small.prof315 wrote:That style VW coil uses the same lead terminal as LS coils. These would work: http://www.summitracing.com/parts/msd-3303/overview/
Does anyone know of a suitable connector? Help!

Re: VW Coilpack connectors wanted
Possibly, the coil pack is used in a large number of VW, Audi vehicles. The big trouble is here in Australia, most car shops I've been to either don't want to help if I don't have a part number. VW dealer just has $$$$ signs in his eyes! What I like to do is find a VW that uses the coilpack and has sufficiently long leads so I can re terminate them with standard spark plug ends (that I have). I'm trolling the internet at the moment trying to find suitable ones that are also stocked locally.

Re: VW Coilpack connectors wanted (Solved)
OK to help others that have the same problem, here is what I found out regarding leads that fit this coil. I still would have preferred to find boots and coil terminals rather than complete leads that I have to modify, so if anyone does find them please let us know.
Anyway I went to my local Bursens (Motor parts vendor) and they cross referenced from the coil part number (032905106B) what NGK spark plug leads fitted. Their system also showed the length of all the leads in the sets, and from these knowing the lengths that I required we selected the NGK RC-ADL807 lead set designed for the Audi A3 8L (1997-1999).
I'll remove the spark plug ends and cut the leads to my requirements with new 90 degree ends that I have.

Re: VW Coilpack connectors wanted
Well that's weird.....I have used LS plug wires on VW coils and I am currently using VW plug wires on LS coils in my car and have been for nearly 2 1/2 years trouble free. No fitment issues at all.jb007 wrote:The LS coil tower parts arrived today. Unfortunately they are not suitable. Re: VW Coilpack connectors wanted
Well is it the same coil as mine? Not all VW/Audio coils are the same. Same as not all ford coils are the same.prof315 wrote:Well that's weird.....I have used LS plug wires on VW coils and I am currently using VW plug wires on LS coils in my car and have been for nearly 2 1/2 years trouble free. My coil has a small pin in the middle of the hole which the correct leads have a special clip... hard to explain see pictures.

Re: VW Coilpack connectors wanted
Prof315, please let me give you an apology. I got up this morning and looked carefully at both the LS connector and VW connector. Both use different 'locking mechanisms, but otherwise they appear to have the same hole size. I will endeavor to crimp one of the connectors today to test further, but I'm sure it will fit.prof315 wrote:Yup I'm quite familiar with that style. It's what I am using with my LS coils
I thank you for your help and apoligise for the misunderstanding, and I will now go and hide in the corner!

Re: VW Coilpack connectors wanted
I used HD twin cam plug wires on my ls2 coils, the boots were too small but rubber stretches
Not sure if the long one was long enough but they were $3 ea
Oddly the short wire of the set was like $11 ea
Of course those are "import" parts to you and probably not cheap

Thanks for that. The rubbers that came with the LS boots and terminal are a bit small, but with a bit of spit they go on tight!piledriver wrote:I used HD twin cam plug wires on my ls2 coils, the boots were too small but rubber stretches

You're right parts in Australia are usually over the top in price compared to the USA or the UK. I buy most of my Mini parts from the UK as even with freight they still work out a lot cheaper.
