Any recommended Throttlebody 3"+ with built in ICV

Post by eMTea »

As topic says.
I need a Throttlebody for my future 24v VR6 project, and I want one with built in ICV that MS3X can control.

I like to tune using pwm style idle motors. First thing that comes to mind is any 5.0 mustang will have it built in and plenty of sizes and brands avaialable for that motor

One thing to look out for it throttle pull direction

Can you order from Summit?

75mm (2.95"), built in prep for IAC valve and TPS (neither are included), both of which are directly compatible with MS.

Seems like a good alternative!
I'll just check out ebay for a complete one.

Do you think this one will fit for a mustang? I'd like to stick with Bosch Style connectors as long as possible.

I have found so far that any ford iac swaps over, there is just differences in motor style and connector location. Look for something bbk if you can, all of there throttle body's come stock with oring shafts. A buddy had that summit one and it whistled pretty bad through the throttle shaft till we oringed it

This one maybe? http://www.ebay.com/itm/BBK-1514-Thrott ... 65&vxp=mtr
Will 80mm suffer from low rpm drivability?

It's no problem, sometimes I forget this is a worldwide board, which I think is great as diverse information gets about

What size is the engine? You can mask the to large or throttle body syndrome with a progressive type spool. When I have to modify a spool, I work it out where 1/2 pedal throttle is 1/4 throttle body movement, then it Gos wot after that

It's a 2.8 24v VR6, originally from Seat Leon Cupra R. 204hp. Will be boosted to about 700hp.

I see, I was first thinking of trying to adopt my oem throttle cable connection, but an offset wheel would probably solve the drivability issue, if there is any.

What caught our attention first was during a boost leak test, the tps was bubbling!

That 80mm might be a big large. I'm running 3 inch piping all the way with a 70mm throttle body. It has a 3 inch coupling diameter so it flows to the eye, and internally I put it on the lathe and tapered the entry for better flow. I had to reduce the throttle change off idle with the spool to stop the motor from flaring up while taking off from a stop. Mines a 3.0L and makes over 800whp with the choke point being the turbine housing and back pressure sky rocketing

On a side note, a buddy with form of gt35 made almost 830whp in an Evo with 2.5 inch piping and stock 65mm throttle body. When he went to 3 inch and a 75mm throttle power went to 880 iirc, so it's not that much of a restriction

Ok, I think I'll go for the 70mm instead then, then all the piping and hoses can be done with 3" OD/ID. Seems plenty enough for me. Thanks for the advice!
