Effect? =cam wheel 4 vane with one of different length

Post by KDW »

I have this Mazda Distributor with one Hall cam angle sensor with 4 vanes....one of the vane has a different length....what effect will this give to megasquirt?

Do I need to file this one longer vane down so that all the four vanes will be equal?

What is the effect if I dont change it?

These are two versions of the Vane wheel for the Hall sensor, one have four equal lenght vanes and the other have one longer in length than the rest of the four vanes...its longer by 2.5mm

See the difference .....one vane is longer by 2.5mm than the 3 other vanes

Many Thanks :)

Shouldn't have to, one of the edges (rising, or falling) should be inline with the others.
It should be pretty obvious when looking at the wheel trigger bar graph.

Leading edge of all the four vanes matches, but does the Trailing edge of the longer vane does matter? ...it closes the signal with a little delay than the rest?

Is my understanding right....all leading edge should all be equally distant to each other as well as its trailing edges? as the trailing edge is also important?

Thanks for the answer :D

Length doesn't matter, only the trigger edge.
It would make a difference if you were triggering on both rising and falling edges, but you don't normally do that.
