Hi,
I bought an already built up car, and I need to identify the ignition coils. I think I may have burnt them.
There is a part number on it: 1103961 OM15
I think they may come from a Pontiac Trans Sport? Thats what the websearch said...
Pictures:
So I have some questions:
1.To which ignition system do they originally belong?
2. From which cars can I take spares?
3. Is there any system I can refer to for the megasquirt adjustments?
4. Can I test those coils before replacing them?
Problem is, I absentmindedly changed the spark output options in Tunerstudio from going high (inverted) to going low.
This resulted in a burned MS2 - but even with my old MS1 which already did run in the car, it won´t start. So the coils may be burned, too.
Thanks

Re: ignition Coil identification
ms2 extra has an output test mode you can use to test the coils and injectors.
1990 bmw 320i daily driver with m20b25 ms3 sequential fuel, 380cc injectors, d585 coil near plug, home made cam sync, launch control, fan control, vss, homebrew egt logging what's next????

Re: ignition Coil identification
Those coils are from a GM v6 for sure. I ran 4 of them on my v8 for a while. Sold in Australia as Commodore VP to VY coils.I used to get them cheap from Rock Auto in the US from some sort of Buick V6 around the same era. They mount on a module/driver base that I never used and I have heard of others gutting the base and just using it to hold the coils and using BIP drivers. You would have to have a look and see what yours has been set up for. Some people use the MS with most of that factory system, It's GM7x or something like that.
Find the Manuals up top under Quick links: Manuals.

Re: ignition Coil identification
Thanks!
I will read and try the output test mode as grom_e30 suggested.
Today I will unmount the coils and have a look how they are wired.
Thanks to slow_hemi6 for the Infos, I think I found those coils on ebay us - price, taxing and shipping costs are absolutely reasonable (here one new coil of those is about 150 dollars...).
I hope these will fit, although they do not have an identical number:

Re: ignition Coil identification
Hi,
thanks to you, I got it running again.
The coils were okay, but I fried the MS Board. So I took the Ignition drivers off the board and installed them directly.
It works!
