One can snag a 5 or 6 speed manual transmission from a mid 00 MX5 maita to do a RWD conversion. As for MS control a MS2 will do just fine. 4 fuel, 4 spark (ls2 coil..) fidle valve. Use iac1 and 2 for fan and boost control. ADC 6 and 7 for baro and MAF. Pretty much a exact copy of my current set up driving my SBFord in a 64 falcon.

The ecoboost we get here is a direct injection unit, that's why I was saying MS can't drive it. Of course you could modify it to use conventional injection if you wanted to.

There is roughly 500 lbs worth of glass hanging out past the rear tires plus the extra steel for the roof and fenders. Fords brochures from 60 and 61 claimed 2kish lbs. Car sold for $2k, 1 dollar per pound.

These scales are calibrated at least once a year, I trust em.

I have available a 03 Ranger 2.3L engine. Don't need to do all that direct injection stuff.

2600 seems porky to me. See what I can come up with.

Our local weighbridge has my 68 valiant at 3400lbs. I can't see it ever getting under 3000lbs. 2600lbs is featherweight.

I don't doubt the OP can get it under 2000#, he has said it will be totally stripped and glass replaced with plastic. My only point is that the difference between a 350# V-8 and a 250# I-4 probably isn't going to be the major part of that weight reduction effort; I suggest not making engine weight a prime factor in selecting the engine.

As someone has mentioned, all US EcoBoost engines are direction injection. If you want a turbo, you'd be better off getting a 2.0 or 2.5L Duratec and adding a turbo to that.

The Fusion's 2.5 would give you a good 20hp/tq advantage over the 2.3.
