EDIS 4 coil.

Postby DaveEFI » Fri Apr 07, 2017 1:49 am

Pal has had (we think) an EDIS4 coil fail. He's a long way off, so I've not seen it myself.

One cylinder of a pair appears not to be firing at all. Which sort of doesn't make sense to me. But swapping the coils - it's an eight cylinder - moves the fault too.
Any guesses what could cause this? The resistance readings of the coil seem normal at about 1 ohm primary, 30,000 ohms secondary.

One coil tower, or its approximate end of the secondary winding, could be shorted to ground. It may be a high resistance "short" that you would need a megger to find.
