Stepper idle issues
Could someone please explain how you are testing stepper idle and what you expect it to do and what it actually does.

It appears that it's not entering the desired crank position, but rather step 65.
It worked fine with 610b, but on starting with beta 6 the engine revved to 2000+ rpm. I needed to shift the idle step table ~50 steps higher for a reasonable idle.
I connected to a spare IAC motor and observed the pintle retracting on powering up, and it remained retracted on crank (it could have moved 65 steps w/o me being able to see this) and then extended a second or so after start. My observations corresponded with what I datalogged.
Does that answer your questions, James?

Could you confirm that it really was 0610b that worked ok? This was the first release _after_ I attempted to include idle code from 2.870. This makes it the most likely time to have broken the code ....
If 0610b does work ok, then it might make tracking down the problem easier.

Yes, idle control worked perfectly fine with 610b. The minimum steps per move implementation worked well.
It was this version that I ran while trying to figure out what was happening with the ignition, and I had quite a bit of run time with it.
I did try beta 4 and since ignition wasn't fixed didn't run it, but did notice a lot of air noise on startup that was probably due to the same IAC behavior.

I recently built a simple test stand to check the behavior of my IAC. It was just a block of wood with a large hole drilled out for the pintle. I then cut open the top half of the drilled hole so I could see the pintle move back and forth. You might try something similar just so you can make easy back-to-back comparisons between the two versions of code to make sure it is the code. I had very good response with my IAC for the longest time, and then it started acting really flaky. I did the mod where you jumper the two power resistors on the bottom side of the MS-II module, and then the IAC worked perfectly. Without the simple test stand I made, it would have made this troubleshooting task very difficult.

Ok, attached is an s19 to try out. It corrects what looked like a bug.
Even though I've tested all versions from 0610 to present, I'm having a hard time seeing what is right and wrong...
The file will need renaming as the forum doesn't allow .s19 files.

in beta 6 ..(on my saturn) It is pretty crazy... my Last step was always around 208....
Now my last step is almost 300
probably has something to do with the bug...
