maybe they used different style valves between the different cars over the years? I know this one was used on the 323s, Proteges, and Escort GT. I figured that the Miata used a similar valve, but maybe not?
ninja edit: I looked up the parts for the Miata... it looks like from '90 to '93, they used the same style idle valve as I have in my car. From then on, the valve looks much bulkier, and it may use a different setup.
