Beta 9/ ls1 24-0 wheel, no fire

Post by blk 02 »

Well the setup is MSII beta 9 (beta20070905),
5.3l gen III chevy motor,
5volts to the crank and cam sensors brought in directly to Tsel for crank and js10 for the cam sensor with 1k resistors in parallel on both

Wasted spark with 8 CNP wired directly to leds (works for MS1extra) with a fourth led driver circuit created fire spark D

Spark A=led 14
spark B=led 16
spark C=led 15
Spark D=js11

Also have a tach out circuit with outout from cpu js0/iac1

I started with the msq that is loaded when the firmware was loaded followed the ls1 suggestions per the msii-extra documents.

THe problem is I'm getting no spark I dont see the leds flashing (i know it will be a small flashs but still visable an cranking speeds). I am however getting a RPM signal, so im pretty sure its a setting issue.

I know the harness is wired correctly because it will run with MS1-extra well with issues see here . http://www.msextra.com/viewtopic.php?t=26200

Any help would be great
Thanks
Graham

Please post an MSQ. I can test this with the JimStim on the bench.

Good find. It is broken. Don't know why yet.

I'll look at this at some point this week.

If you have time, try older beta/alpha releases. I'm sure I've tested this mode out before and am very suprised that we broke it, but we did.

OK, I tested it out and found a one line code bug. I believe I've fixed it and will get another beta out once Ken has had a quick look at the code.

Sorry havent posted yet... However it will fire my coils now but having a low rpm.... ummmm miss. the rpm will totaly drop out. its random and only really happens when rpm is below 1500. One thing I have noticed is it will say "NOT SYNCED" In bottom right corner of mega tune when I experence the cut out. Will get a data log and post but wont be till late this week befor I have some time.

James thatnks for getting the beta fix out so quick. Once again you guys rock..

Have you looked into the wiring suggestions from "mobythevan" and "davew" ? They had to make a few small changes to get MS1/Extra work correctly with the LS1 sensors. Their changes should be applied to get MS2/Extra to behave.

I have done as they suggested and ended up using the opto-isolator as per the ms2 document. I have ms1 extra running the engine. It runs pretty good except for some upper rpm misfire. Im getting some noise in my crank signal. when I put plug in the ms2 computer (swapping the whole ecu not just the chip. I'm getting the rpm cut out as described before.

I'll have another look on the stim later this week. A datalog might help me diagnose what is going on. The MS2/Extra code WILL be made to work, as I intend to run it myself.

I'm using the following trigger wheel settings to test:

wheel arrangement: Dual wheel
teeth: 24
angle: (any)
Wheel speed: crank wheel
Second trigger active on: rising and falling
every rotation of: crank (new setting)
